Yesterday on Instagram I posted this pictire of my bedroom. I feel like I have a love/hate relationship with that room. What do I love? I love the tall vaulted ceilings. I love the view from the windows (my deck, backyard, and lots of trees).
I love my bed. It was a Craigslist purchase of a Crate and Barrel bed in like new condition. I drove to a really ritzy part of town and the family’s butler (!?) helped me load it into my car. I love the new nightstands that I also got from craigslist last week. They are from Arhaus and really add texture and dimension to the space.
I love the hardwood floors that I had installed last year. For years there was carpet in here and the room always felt kind of bland.
Some people don’t like hardwood floors in the bedroom and prefer carpet because it’s cozy underfoot, but I put down a rug and I feel great about that choice.
What don’t I like? It’s one thing really. It’s too small. I’m all for a cozy environment, but this room is a teeny bit too cozy. There’s room to walk around the bed, and that’s it.
I was able to stick a small chair in the corner so I can look out the window. But honestly, I wish it was about 20-30 sq ft larger.
Unfortunately, that’s not possible, so I have learned to live with it.
One thing that helped tremendously, was last year I painted the navy blue accent wall.
That just makes the room feel so much bigger and draws your eyes further up to the high ceilings. In fact, I’ve considered painting the entire room navy blue (Sherwin Williams Naval). That might be a fall/winter project. I’ll keep yall posted!
