Let's talk about my coffee table

A few months ago, I made an impulse purchase (shocking, I know) and I bought a round pedestal coffee table. This was slightly crazy for a few reasons:

  1. I had never had a round coffee table before

  2. I had not had a coffee table with zero storage since having my son.

  3. This particular table had a stone top, was that even smart with a child in the house?

But at the end of the day, it was so beautiful. I couldn't NOT get it. It's an Arhaus piece that's part of the Luca collection and unfortunately has been discontinued (find other Luca pieces here). I found it on Facebook Marketplace, and it was being sold by a high end used furniture reseller all the way in Baltimore.

So one early Sunday morning, I woke up and told my husband I was making the 75-minute drive to Baltimore by myself to get a coffee table. He nodded and said, "have fun", because let's face it, I go pretty far for good deals on quality furniture.

I sold my old Pottery Barn coffee table with the distressed wood base and metal top. It was a good coffee table, it had a drawer for hiding stuff, and it was about 52" long, which is just the right length for the size of my room and sofa.

This "new" coffee table was round and 36" with, as I said earlier, zero storage. Where was I going to put my remotes? Would it be big enough to anchor the sofa?

I gotta say, once I got it in the room, it looked a bit odd, and it did take some getting used to, but now I absolutely LOVE IT.

I love the elegance of the pedestal bottom. I love the contrast of the natural stone top. I love how much more room it provides. I didn't realize it, but round coffee tables are space savers!

But I was still facing the dilemma of where to hide remotes. I got lucky and was outlet shopping and found this lovely ceramic gold storage box in the shape of an almond.

It fits remotes (and Legos) perfectly. Problem solved! I am in love with my round coffee table. If you're in the market for a new coffee table, I rounded up a few options for you!
