I'm over my olive tree

In 2020, olive trees invaded Instagram. At first, all of the designers were using them, Shea McGee, Amber Lewis, etc. Then it trickled down to the influencers (yours truly included). The thing is, you wanted your olive tree to have height, and if you didn't have a huge house, you also didn't want it to be too wide.

Given those requirements, there was a clear front runner, the Nearly Natural 82" Olive Tree. Believe me when I tell you, this thing BLEW UP. I started seeing everywhere! Heck, I bought two! The reason being, it was THAT good. It looked realistic, it was reasonably priced (you could find it on sale for under $100 at the time), and you couldn't beat that height.

I bought two. I put one in my kitchen and the other in my living room. I paired it with some fabulous planters from Crate & Barrel, and I was living my best faux olive tree life.

But now it's 2022, and like everything else, trends come and go. I sold one of my olive trees on Facebook Marketplace today. I got about 15 inquiries in 20 minutes. I probably priced it too low. I still like the way olive trees look, I think they're very chic. I am keeping the one in the kitchen. But I do think I'm ready for something new in my living room. While I was browsing materials for my son’s bathroom remodel at Home Depot, I came across this lovely Eucalyptus tree. not quite 81”, but 6’ tall is still a good height. So I bought it and it now lives in my living room. I love love love how much fuller it is than the old tree.
