As I told you in my most recent post, I am planning on renovating Henry’s bathroom this year. The space is desperately in need of an update and now that my son isn’t a baby anymore I can make the design a bit more grown up.
My inspiration came from my favorite designer, Jean Stoffer and this beautiful bathroom she designed.
I was especially drawn to the mix of black and mid tone stained wood. that being said, here’s my design board:
I went back and forth on whether to do a marble floor or not. Ultimately I decided that although I love marble flooring, I wanted something a bit more impactful, so I’ll be doing a black hex floor with black grout instead. The vanity is white oak, and I’ll be using polished nickel for the faucets, medicine cabinet, towel hooks, and toilet paper holder. The bathtub is fairly standard but I do plan on using Carrera marble for the shower wall with the tile laid vertically to add height. The shower and bath faucet will be matte black to match the floor. The sconce light is where I’ll be going a bit cheap, right now my plan is to take the current light in the bathroom (that I bought 4 years ago) and spray paint the metal finish matte black. Finally, for the toilet, I’m splurging a bit and getting a squared off bottom toilet with a round seat, I think those look so chic. I really wanted a greige toilet, but the cost was way out of budget ($1,400!). My goal is to have the bathroom started by the first week of February and finished within one week. We will see how it goes!
